I wrote this song in 2012. Even as an Atheist, I’ve found the poem “footprints” to resonate with me. I thought it was a cool way to look at the lonelier and harder parts in life. But I realized that I’d never seen those footprints, and that’s when this song spilled out of me.

I can’t find your footprints
This time it’s tricky
I only slip and slide
Somethin’s messin with me
There’s a part of me that stumbles
And a part of me falls
Apart and I can’t figure out

Sometimes I get a feeling
Smiles combined with deletion
Each and every moment that I’m not gettin closer
I’m pushin away, kinda by definition
